Historia de GuerraHistoria de Guerra
Historia de Guerra
Description: This Work composed of three pieces is closely inspired by the current war between Ukraine and Russia, however the message that is contained is that in war everyone loses, because in one way or another not only the countries in conflict are affected, but the damage extends to all of us who inhabit this planet. In the Work we can appreciate a beautiful Sunflower that represents the world, in which two butterflies coexist, they represent human beings. Later a beautiful bird arrives on the scene that represents the War, it is beautiful because in the world there are those who see in the conflict an irresistible and convenient opportunity, coming to call the War "Art". Finally, in the last painting, it is observed that after the bird, only the remains of both insects have remained, as well as a partially destroyed, sad, incomplete flower, devoid of its Beauty and perfection. In my opinion, this is how the world remains after wars.

Hope
Hope
Description: Life as we know it is a journey of happiness as well as grief, with hope is seen through times of joy and how we lost hope in times of grief. In ‘Hope’, Oscar Artunes tells a story about what it’s like to never lose faith and hope in grief, because in grief, us humans are reminded of our limitations, as well as our intuition to seek meanings and truths in every occurrence.

Huito
Huito
Description: A combination of acrylic with natural dyes used here in this part of the Colombian Amazon, the first one is the huito, which is used by the communities of the Tikuna ethnic groups, for their ceremonial makeup and to give color to their handicrafts, this Color comes from squeezing the fruit of the American genipa, when it dries on the skin it gives dark blue tones, on paper it starts out blue and oxidizes to sepia tones. The other pigment is the achiote (Bixa orellana), a shrub from which a reddish-orange pigment is extracted from its seed, used by many pre-Columbian cultures to paint their bodies, their art, and season their cuisine. In this part of the Colombian Amazon, the Yagua ethnic group uses this pigment the most in their traditional ceremonies. The last dye used is canyiru, a plant from whose leaves the Tikuna ethnic group extracts a red earth pigment which they use to paint their handicrafts.
